What happens? Cross is fresh out of jail, old, waiting to die.  His granddaughter runs away and he hits the road to find her.
How long was this? 377 pages
Did I like this? This is a GREAT book.  Wonderful story, great characters, lots of action, believable, real, captures America, captures death and life.  Must find other works by this guy.  Sensational book.

What happens? Dude gets sent to a horse farm where a fire killed a buncha horses and one human.  Messed up Chadwick family with lots of problems.   Jockeys, trainers.  He represents a rich arab sheikh.
How long was this? 384 pages
Did I like this?  Yes, he really has his father's rhythm and style
